Founded by wealthy Virginians including family members of George Washington, one of our first accomplishments was investing grant money to settle 100 families near the forks of the Ohio River; erecting a fort to protect both the settlers and the British claim on the land while promoting trade. By 1788, The Ohio Company had established its first permanent settlement at Marietta and by 1790, the company had established eight settlements throughout the state. This pioneer spirit continues to be a driving force in The Ohio Company’s world-class leadership.
